Chop Suey

  • Chop Suey is a Chinese American dish consisting of small pieces of meat, chicken or shrimp and stir-fried with celery, onions, bean sprouts, mushrooms and other vegetables of choice and served over white rice.
  • Quick and Easy Recipe and Directions

    1. In a Wok add a small amount of cooking oil, turn heat to medium high.
    2. Add meat, chicken or shrimp and stir-fried until cooked. (can use one or all)
    3. Add celery, onions, bean sprouts, mushrooms and other vegetables or ingredients of choice. (anything goes)
    4. Stir frequently.
    5. Add a small amount of cornstarch for thickening.
    6. Cook for approximately 10 minutes.
    7. Splash with soy sauce.
    8. Serve over white rice and top with crunchy noodles.

    An old Chinese myth says that a small Chinese restaurant in San Francisco out of food, gathered up all their leftovers and slop, and cooked everything together in a large wok. The dish was a sucess and chop suey was was born.
