Major League Baseball utility player Chone Figgins currently plays for the Seattle Mariners.
Figgins was originally drafted by the Colorado Rockies on June 3, 1997, in the fourth round of the MLB Draft. He was placed with the Rockies minor league affiliates, where he played until 2001.
On July 13, 2001, Figgins was traded to the then named Anaheim Angels, where he continued in the minors. Figgins was called up to make his MLB debut with the Angels on August 25, 2002. He played a total of 15 games his rookie season, hitting six runs in 12 attempts at bat. Figgins also made his first post season appearance with the Angels in 2002, where they won the World Series over the San Francisco Giants.
Figgins split the 2003 season between the Angels and the minors, playing 77 games in the majors. In 2004, he earned a full roster spot with the Angels, joining them for 148-158 games each season over the next three years. Figgins was honored in 2005, as he was selected as the Co-MVP of the Angels, sharing the nod with Bartolo Colon. He was also the American League Stolen Base Leader the same year.
He returned to the minors for a brief stint in 2007, for conditioning after he broke two fingers during spring training.
In 2008, Chone had an off season. He had a .276 batting average, a single home run, and 34 stolen bases (tied for a career low when playing more than 115 games).
Last season, Chone made a trip to the All-Star Game and place 10th in the AL MVP voting.
During the 2009-2010 offseason, Figgins was traded to the Seattle Mariners.
