Chocolate Jesus

-->
  • Canadian artist Cosimo Cavallaro's sculpture My Sweet Lord uses chocolate to recreate the famous image of Jesus. The artwork was originally on display during Holy Week at New York's Roger Smith Lab Gallery. Due to protests, the sculpture was taken down. In October 2007, the work was once again exhibited at the Proposition Art Gallery as part of the "Chocolate Saints... Sweet Jesus" exhibit. The original detractors, the Catholic League for Religious and Civil Rights, agreed not to protest the second viewing because the new exhibit did not occur around or play upon a Christian holiday.
