History of Chloe
Egyptian born designer, Gaby Aghion wanted to break the concept of conservative 1950's clothing by starting a line of soft, form fitting women's apparel made of fine fabrics. With the help of Jacques Lenoir, the two debuted their first collection in 1956. The line immediately gained popularity and when the designers opened their first fashion house, they hired young left bank Parisian talent to design for them. By 1966, Karl Lagerfeld joined the company to create a more exclusive appeal and by 1970 Jackie Kennedy and Brigitte Bardot frequently wore Chloe clothing for their exquisite daywear, making the brand iconic.
Latest Reinventions
By 1997, Chloe was in need of another modern overhaul. Stella McCartney stepped in mixing the streetwise nature of her voice to the romantic softness of the line. Low trousers and vintage lingerie infused the McCartney attitude into the brand which elevated the line to a new level of interest for young women.
