The documentary China's Stolen Children focuses on the consequences of China's One-Child Policy. The film crew went undercover, investigating the prevalence of aborted female fetuses and kidnapped male infants, as well as the general exploitation of children.

In 1979, China set out to control its population by social pressure and monetary penalties for families that had more than one child. Households were sometimes permitted to have two children, if certain conditions were met. Forced sterilization and abortion were commonplace.
