Chimichanga is a Spanish, deep-fried burrito consisting of, a flour tortilla stuffed with refried beans, rice, meat, cheese and other fillings of choice. Served with guacamole and sour cream.
History
Legend has it that Caeron Stukoff, owner of El Charro restaurant in 1922, accidentally dropped pastry into the deep fryer, in her frustration, she began to curse, but revised her wording to chimichanga, meaning thingamajig.
The birthplace of the chimichanga is uncertain, but Arizona is laying claim to its origins.
