Chick-fil-A is the second largest chicken-based fast food chain in the United States. The company claims to have invented the chicken sandwich at a time when hamburgers were ubiquitous. The Chick-fil-A sandwich comes with two pickles because that was the only condiment on hand when S. Truett Cathy first created it.
The company is known for its conservative Christian roots. In a demonstration of support for the Tea Party protests, it provided a free medium iced tea with any purchase on April 15, 2009.Think Progress: Chick-fil-A lends its support to tea party protesters (April 15, 2009)
Chick-fil-A "Eat Mor Chikin" Cow Parachutists
A TV commercial is shown that emulates a sporting event in a humorous way. Three cows interrupt a news crew as they parachute onto a football field during a game. As they land, one cow suddenly decides to knock down a burger vendor who was walking through the stands. For the finale, the camera zooms out and shows the parachutes that have “Eat More Chikin” written on them.
Background Information
The first Chick-Fil-A restaurant was built by Cathy Truett in 1967 in an Atlanta, GA, where the headquarters still remain today. Truett created chicken sandwiches, chicken nuggets, and waffle fries for those who wanted a healthier option when dining out with their loved ones. New US locations were opened, and they were soon opening inside malls as well as operating their standalone restaurants. One unique Chick-Fil-A is their business hours. All stores are closed on Sundays, which sets this chicken franchise apart from all other fast food chains. Also, the founder claims to always be looking for ways to help out the local community as the chain grows each year. In the past, they've provided everything from scholarships to free food. http://www.chick-fil-a.com/#story
