A 5.4 magnitude earthquake with its epicenter in Illinois shook Chicago around 4:37 am on April 18, 2008. Though more than 240 miles from the epicenter, the earthquake caused skyscrapers in Chicago to sway, and woke people from sleep. The earthquake was also felt in Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio, and Wisconsin. It was the strongest earthquake ever recorded in the region.
