The Chicago Blackhawks are a professional hockey team that plays in the Central Division of the NHL's Western Conference. The franchise was founded in 1926 as one of the "Original Six" hockey teams in the NHL. They have won the Stanley Cup four times, most recently in 2010. They also won the Cup in 1934, 1938 and 1961. From 1926 to 1986 the team was known as the "Black Hawks" but the change was made to the "Blackhawks" in 1986. The team plays in the United Center.
On June 9, 2010, the Blackhawks ended a 49-year Stanley Cup drought by defeating the Philadelphia Flyers 4-3 in OT to win the series 4-2. The winning goal was scored by Patrick Kane.

12 Years of Hossa
Following on the heels of long-term deals to NHL players Rick DiPietro and Roberto Luongo, the Chicago Blackhawks signed 31-year-old Marian Hossa at the beginning of the 2009-2010 season to a 12-year contract worth $62.8 million.http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/news/story?id=4300131 Hossa had spent the previous season as a Stanley Cup runnerup with the Detroit Red Wings, and before that, also a Stanley Cup runnerup with the Pittsburgh Penguins.
