Vice President-elect Joe Biden was expected to meet with outgoing Vice President Dick Cheney at the vice presidential residence in Washington, D.C., on the afternoon of Thursday, November 13, 2008. Vice Presidential Home

The vice president of the United States' residence is located at the Naval Observatory in Washington, D.C. Built in 1893, the home overlooks busy Massachusetts Avenue. In 1974, Congress designated "Number One Observatory Circle" as the official vice presidential home. Prior to 1974, vice presidents lived in their own private homes.
