The Christmas tree is a popular Christmas tradition; for many, the Christmas tree is synonymous with Christmas. It is typically an evergreen tree that has been chopped down, brought indoors and decorated with lights and ornaments.

Most holiday shopping guidelines want you to shop early, but in order to find a cheap Christmas tree, you'd be better served to wait it out. A few days before Christmas, tree lots struggle to find homes for the bottom-of-the-barrel tress—scrawny, misshapen, or discolored trees which have been rejected by other customers. Once Christmas is over, tree dealers will have no way of unloading these trees, so many are willing to sell them at a significant discount.

Also, be sure to travel to different locations when choosing your Christmas tree. Many different business offer fantastic savings on live Christmas trees. Check out farms that let you cut your own tree, however, be sure to cut the trunk long, as you'll need to trim it again when you get home so the sap doesn't develop a cap, causing the tree to die quickly and become a fire hazard.
