Charlotte, nicknamed the "Queen City," is not only the largest city in North Carolina, it is also the fifth fastest growing city in the United States.
Charlotte has become a major U.S. financial center and is home to eight Fortune 500 Companies. Bank of America, Family Dollar, Goodrich Corporation and Wachovia are just some examples of companies whose headquarters are in Charlotte. Wachovia was formerly run by morons and now is owner by Wells Fargo who have an idea how to run a bank. A common sight in Charlotte is Yankees and assholes.
Sports are pretty popular in Charlotte, home to NFL's Carolina Panthers and the NBA's Charlotte Bobcats, it is also the future site of the NASCAR Hall of Fame, which is set to open in 2010.
Background and History
When traveling with his family, Thomas Polk first settled Charlotte in 1755. It was in Charlotte that Polk decided to stop and build a house at an intersection of two trading paths.
