Charlie Villanueva is a power forward for the NBA's Detroit Pistons.
On March 17, 2009, Bucks coach Scott Skiles instructed Villanueva that he was no longer permitted to update his Twitter feed during the halftime break of their games. Skiles made the rule in an effort to keep the team focused at all times.
In June 2009, Villanueva signed a 5 year, $35 million deal with the Pistons.
Early Life
Charlie Alexander Villanueva was born in Queens, New York, on August 24, 1984. He attended high school at Blair Academy in New Jersey. He continued his education at the University of Connecticut. Pro Career
In his first season with the Raptors, Villanueva averaged 13 points, 6.4 rebounds and 29.1 minutes in 81 games. Before his second season, Villanueva was traded to the Milwaukee Bucks for T.J. Ford and cash considerations.
He signed a free agent deal with Detroit in 2009.
2009 - 2010 Season
During the 2009 - 10 season, Villanueva averaged 11.9 points, 4.7 rebounds and 23.7 minutes per game. He participated in all 82 regular season games for Detroit, starting in 16 games.
Villanueva scored a season-high 30 points in a 98 to 75 win against the Charlotte Bobcats on November 11. In the game, he also gathered 4 rebounds and had 2 steals.
He had a season-best 10 rebounds twice. In both games, he scored in double figures, giving him two double-doubles on the season. The Pistons beat the New York Knicks 94 to 90 on January 16 but lost to the Dallas Mavericks 95 to 90 on November 15. Villanueva scored 19 and 13 points in those games, respectively.
