  • Charlie Patton was an American Delta blues musician, considered to be "The Founder of Delta Blues." He was the first Delta blues artist to perform in the mainstream. Although all records indicate his birth name as Charley Patton, he himself signed his name as Charlie Patton.
  • Career

    Charlie Patton grew up in the the southern United States and played the Blues all his life. He concentrated most of his work and recording in Mississippi, but his influence reached all over the world.

    Patton recorded singles for both Paramount and Vocalion records. He toured the U.S. extensively spreading his music, and by his untimely death in 1942 he had made himself legend.
