Fast Facts:
Brief Biography
Although he often lived in the shadow of his younger, wildly successful brother, Eddie Murphy, Charlie Murphy made a strong show business career for himself in his own right, appearing in several films throughout the 1990s, and rising to prominence in 2003 with his recurring Chappelle's Show segment, "Charlie Murphy's True Hollywood Stories". In the popular segment, Murphy would tell purported tales of wild parties he would attend with his younger brother in the 1980s at which he would encounter prominent celebrities of the day, including Rick James and Prince. After Dave Chappelle abandoned the show unexpectedly in 2005, Murphy secured his own television show on BET, entitled We Got to Do Better.
