Over the course of his 50+ year career, Daniels and his band have produced a number of hit albums and songs, including the now-classic 1977 single "The Devil Went Down to Georgia" which won Daniels a Grammy Award for Best Country Vocal Performance. Besides his music, he is also outspoken about his political and cultural beliefs, having been a vigorous defender of president George W. Bush and the war in Iraq and a major proponent of "Southern Pride".
The band's official website includes his "soapbox" where these views are expressed. http://www.charliedaniels.com/soapbox.htm He has also written numerous songs in protest to current world events and US political issues such as "In America" and "The South's Gonna Do It".
