Charles Joffe

Charles H. Joffe, an American talent manager and film producer, produced most of Woody Allen's films. He died in July 2008 at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles of lung disease.The New York Times: Charles H. Joffe, Movie Producer, Is Dead at 78 (July 15, 2008)

Career

Joffe started a business booking bands while a student at Syracuse University. After graduation, he was hired at MCA in New York City. After three years booking talent at MCA, he went to work at the Rollins Agency. By the early 1960s, he was a partner and the Rollins Agency had become Rollins Joffe. he managed Woody Allen from his early career as a struggling comedian, getting him parts in films such as What's New Pussycat in 1965 and Casino Royale in 1966. He produced the first film Allen directed, and allowed the comedian total artistic control.The New York Times: Charles H.
