In January 2010, Phillips admitted to having an 8-year relationship with actress and writer YaVaughnie Wilkins. The admission came after Wilkins set up billboards and a website exploiting their affair. Phillips is married and shares a 10-year-old son with his wife Karen. In 2008, Mrs. Phillips reportedly filed for a divorce but the couple never went forward with it. The two apparently reconciled. Friends of YaVaughnie say that she was mislead to believe that Phillips was single.http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/worldnews/article-1245296/Spurned-mistress-YaVaughnie-Wilkins-takes-revenge-Charles-E-Phillips-plastering-U-S-cities-compromising-posters.html
Phillips' statement read, "I had an 8½-year serious relationship with YaVaughnie Wilkins. My divorce proceedings began in 2008. The relationship with Ms. Wilkins has since ended and we both wish each other well."http://www.nydailynews.com/ny_local/2010/01/22/2010-01-22_putting_an_affair_in_lights_gal_pal_of_technology_big_puts_pix_of_pair_on_billbo.html
YaVaughnie & Charles Billboards & Website
YaVaughnie Wilkins set up billboards featuring her and Phillips in three cities, New York City, Atlanta and San Francisco. The pictures are captioned with the words "Charles and YaVaughnie" with a link to a website. The website, at CharlesPhillipsandYaVaughnieWilkins.com, featured pictures of the couple as well as 'love' notes from Phillips to YaVaughnie. The notes were from florist cards and have messages like "We're going to have a great life, stick with me" and "I'm crazy about you." The site featured pictures of the couple at various spots around the world including a trip to Australia and China. The website's designer said he was paid $1,400 to create the site and was assumed it was a gift for Phillips. http://www.nydailynews.com/ny_local/2010/01/22/2010-01-22_putting_an_affair_in_lights_gal_pal_of_technology_big_puts_pix_of_pair_on_billbo.html
