On June 12, 2006, former actress Charla Mack was stabbed to death in her garage. In November of 2006, her estranged husband, Darren Mack, confessed to her murder and the attempted murder of Family Court Judge Chuck Weller. Darren Mack was reportedly furious with the decision Judge Weller had handed down regarding the settlement of the Mack's divorce.
Sentence
In February of 2008, Darren Mack was sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole after 20 years for the murder of Charla Mack. For the attempted murder of Judge Weller, Darren Mack received a sentence of 40 years with the possibility of parole after 16 years. The sentences are to be served back-to-back, meaning that Darren Mack will spend a minimum of 36 years in prison for the two crimes.
