The Philadelphia Ronald McDonald House
This Ronald McDonald House on Chestnut Street in Philadelphia was the first of its kind in the world. Opened in 1974, it supports kids that suffer from serious illnesses and their families. Up to 90% of their funds are donation based. Families can stay here for a small donation. Even though 70% of families are unable to make that requirement, no one is ever turned away for a lack of funds.
