Chaos Theory Reviews (Good)
- Chicago Tribune: Chaos Theory Review
- "Reynolds appears to be growing more subtle and comfortable as a romantic leading man. He's amusing, which helps, and his smugness has a self-deprecating quality that keeps us from checking out on his character's predicament."
- San Francisco Chronicle: Chaos Theory Review
- "Chaos Theory also has the advantage of opening quietly in theaters without any hype to live up to. Completed last year, it sat on a shelf until now. The stall proves that, sometimes, Hollywood producers are too myopic to recognize a winner even when they made it. "
- FilmCritic.com: Chaos Theory Review (3.5/5)
- "The fairly unique ideas that Chaos Theory explores are worth watching if you can get past the schmaltz."
- The Globe and Mail: Chaos Theory Review (2.5/4)
- "Reynolds's performance is consistently impressive. From fuss-budget to wild man, to the forceful protective dad, he carries each part with precision and snappy energy."
Chaos Theory Reviews (Neutral)
- Los Angeles Times: Chaos Theory Review
- "Chaos Theory is not exactly bad, but it disappointingly never really discovers the movie that it wants to be."
- The Hollywood Reporter: Chaos Theory Review
- "The picture continuously shuffles moods like tunes on an iPod without ever making any lasting commitments. As a result, neither the comedy nor the quieter, more introspective moments carry any convincing weight, making it difficult for audiences to have much empathy for the leads and their predicaments."
- Seattle Post-Intelligencer : Chaos Theory Review
- "...there's little punchy anarchy in this controlled experiment."
Chaos Theory Reviews (Bad)
- Reel Views: Chaos Theory Review (1.5/4)
- "Chaos Theory stumbles from one contrived circumstance to the next, and there's not a moment in this entire mess that conveys any sort of genuine human emotion or reaction."
- The New York Post: Chaos Theory Reviews (1/4)
- "The audience, if any, for Chaos Theory is going to be hit with a little puff of celluloid flatulence. The movie won't linger in the air, but that doesn't make it any less embarrassing."
- The A.V. Club: Chaos Theory Review (C-)
- "The big reason Chaos Theory doesn't work is that the gears are visibly grinding away, cranking out neat little ironies and life lessons without any liberating surprises."
