Channel Tunnel

The Channel Tunnel or "Chunnel," is a 31-mile long tunnel running beneath the English Channel and connecting Great Britain and France. On September 11, 2008, a fire broke out on a truck transport train seven miles from the French exit, forcing 32 passengers to take refuge in the service tunnel.CNN: Fire breaks out in Channel Tunnel (September 11, 2008)
