- "Chandni Chowk to China is one of the most significant films to emerge from India in some time. The reasons for this are partly economic: it's being distributed by Warner Brothers, whose execs are hoping to make inroads into the vast market for Bollywood movies across the world. The film is culturally important, too: its subject matter is India's relationship with China. As with the equally energetic and euphoric Slumdog Millionaire, it's hard to resist the charms of this never-knowingly understated singing, dancing and karate-chopping affair."—TelegraphTelegraph: Chandni Chowk to China Review (January 16, 2009)
- "Bottom Line: Slapstick comedy, martial arts, espionage, family drama and a couple of musical numbers somehow work."—NewsdayNewsday: Review: Chandni Chowk to China (January 16, 2009)
- "There isn't enough wit or wackiness to warrant the slow trudge through a plot we've seen in scores of earlier films. There simply isn't enough Indian spice to make this ancient Chinese recipe fresh."—Houston ChronicleHouston Chronicle: Chandni Chowk to China Big and Bouncy Fun (January 15, 2009)
