Chad Cordero

  • Chad Cordero is a right-handed pitcher for the Washington Nationals. A native of California, Cordero was originally selected out of high school in the 26th round of the 2000 amateur draft by the San Diego Padres. Cordero declined a contract, and choose to play baseball at California State University, Fullerton. After a standout collegiate career, the Montreal Expos selected him in the 1st round of the 2003 draft. Cordero made his major league debut the same year. Cordero is the Nationals primary closer.
  • Strengths

    Cordero throws a 90+ mph fastball, and a devastating slider. He has a rubber arm, and can pitch on little to no rest.[1]
  • Weaknesses

    Cordero can loose control of his location at times, and does not pitch as well without the pressure of a save situation.[1]
