On November 21, 2008, Billingsley slipped on ice outside of his Pennsylvania home, breaking his left leg. Baseball Career
Billingsley was drafted on June 3, 2003, right out of high school in the first round of the MLB draft by the Los Angeles Dodgers. He immediately joined the Dodgers minor league affiliate for his first few seasons.
On June 15, 2006, Billingsley was called up to make his MLB debut with the Dodgers. He played 18 games his first season, pitching 90 innings and finishing with a 3.80 earned runs average. Billingsley also made his first post season appearance in 2006, where the Dodgers lost the National League Divisional Series to the New York Mets.
Billingsley earned a full roster spot with the Dodgers in 2007, playing in 43 games, pitching 147 innings and finishing with a career best 3.31 ERA.
