In September, Mexican courts approved returning Laurean to the U.S. to face charges, on the condition that Laurean would not face the death penalty. On October 12, 2008, Laurean's attorney reported that the man is fighting extradition. The Murder
Maria Frances Lauterbach, 20, was found burned and buried in a cavity of Laurean's backyard in January. Lauterbach was eight months pregnant, and according to news reports, Lauterbach had previously accused Laurean of raping her. The Manhunt
Laurean went missing after Lauterbach's remains were discovered. His profile was featured on the TV show America's Most Wanted and on the FBI's website.
