Ceramics

  • Historically, ceramics were shaped from mineral-rich clay that was then exposed to high temperatures to achieve a hardened, waterproof form. Modern ceramics may be made from a variety of synthetic and natural materials which are then fired in a kiln.

Ceramic pieces can be classified as fine art, decorative art, industrial art or applied (functional and everyday) art.
