The Central African Republic is a landlock country in Central Africa bordered by Chad, Sudan, the Republic of the Congo, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and Cameroon.
Hampered By Strife, AIDS
Four decades of military dictatorships, flawed elections, unrest, and armed rebellion and guerilla warfare have made the Central African Republic one of Africa's most troubled countries. At least 13% of the population is infected by the HIV virus, and over 20,000 people die each year from HIV/AIDS-related illness.
