The 2010 US Census is currently being mailed out to millions of people across the United States. The census is being mailed out starting on March 16, 2010. There will be 10 basic required questions on this census. Here's a sample of the types of questions asked on the 2010 census

- Household relationship
- If you own or rent

What You Are Required To Answer
United States Law (specifically, Title 13, Section 221) states that: "Persons who fail or refuse to respond to the mail-back census form, or refuse to respond to a follow-up census taker can be fined up to $100."US LAW: Title 13, Section 221 Additionally, warning is given that, "Persons who knowingly provide false information to the census can be fined up to $500."US LAW: Title 13, Section 221 The Census Bureau, however, has not made any indication that it will actually impose these fines.http://usgovinfo.about.com/od/censusandstatistics/a/answersrequired.htm
Individuals who fail to return the census back on time may have an official US Census worker come visit them at their home. This way the workers will still be able to gather the answers to the questions that the US Government would like answered.
Privacy Concerns
Laws at the Federal level prohibit those working at the Census Bureau from sharing any information whatsoever that is personal in nature. The agents at the Census Bureau are prohibited from sharing such information with, for example, the Immigration and Naturalization Service, any welfare agencies, the Internal Revenue Service, Police, the Military, and Courts.
