  • Chicago Bears running back Cedric Benson was charged Saturday May 3, 2008, for resisting arrest and boating on Lake Travis while under the influence of alcohol.

    After failing a sobriety test, Benson resisted authorities and was subdued by pepper spray. He was released from jail the following day after posting bail of $14,500.

  • Previous Legal Troubles

    Benson was convicted and sentenced in 2003 for misdemeanor trespassing charges for entering an apartment, to look for his stolen television, which he believed was there. He was sentenced to eight days in jail for the conviction, but never served jail time.

    2002 found Benson in trouble with misdemeanor drug and alcohol charges, which were dropped.
