  • Football Career

    Benson began his career playing college football with the Texas Longhorns in the NCAA. He played in 49 games, recording 1,112 carries for 5,540 yards and 64 touchdowns, going down as the second-leading rusher in school history and sixth-leading rusher in the NCAA.     After college, Benson was selected fourth overall in the 2005 NFL draft by the Chicago Bears. Benson played three seasons for the Chicago Bears before being placed on waivers on June 9, 2008. This occurred due to a second driving while intoxicated arrest within a five-week period during the off-season.   • 2008 Arrest

    Benson was arrested in May 3, 2008, on Lake Travis and charged with boating under the influence of alcohol and resisting arrest. He reportedly failed a field sobriety test and officers were forced to subdue Benson with pepper spray after he became uncooperative. He posted bail of $14,500 and was released.
