Flight attendants on board some Cebu Pacific Airlines flights introduced a new "safety dance" in late-September and early-October of 2010. Instead of the usual walk through of safety procedures, some flight attendants on the Philippines-based Cebu Pacific Airlines flights are dancing to songs by Lady Gaga and Katy Perry as they demonstrate how to put on seat belts and oxygen masks if needed.http://travel.usatoday.com/flights/post/2010/10/lady-gaga-flight-attendants/126145/1 http://www.cnn.com/2010/TRAVEL/10/04/philippines.safety.dance/index.html?hpt=T2
A YouTube video posted by a passenger on board a Cebu Pacific flight that featured the dancing flight attendants had more than 5.5 million views within days of its September 30, 2010, posting. The YouTube poster noted that "something interesting happened on my Cebu Pacific flight this afternoon."http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lqh8e2KYIrU
In the video, passengers are seen seated during the flight as Lady Gaga's song "Just Dance" begins. Within a few seconds, the Cebu Pacific flight attendants begin walking down the aisle as an announcer asks the passengers to "direct their attention to the cabin crew who will demonstrate the safety features of this aircraft." As the announcer narrates, the dancing flight attendants demonstrate how to properly fasten, adjust and unfasten seat belts. The flight attendants then grab life vests and demonstrate how to inflate and adjust flotation devices. As the flight attendants continue to dance in unison, the announcer explains the specifics about the life vests.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lqh8e2KYIrU
As the video continues, the music changes to Katy Perry's song "California Gurls." The flight attendants then grab oxygen masks from the overhead compartment of the aircraft and demonstrate how to properly put on the masks as they dance. The flight attendants then point out the locations of the plane's emergency exits while dancing. They wrap up their routine by showing the plane's safety cards and the aircraft's illuminated escape path finding system, as passengers applaud the performance.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lqh8e2KYIrU

Cebu Pacific Safety Demo Dance
An official for Cebu Pacific Airlines says the idea behind the flight attendants' dancing safety demonstration is to "show that flight safety doesn't have to be boring." Candic Iyog says the airline hired choreographers "to help the attendants perfect their routine." Iyog was quoted by the London Telegraph newspaper as saying that the "safety dance" was "an experiment" that the airline hopes "to repeat."http://travel.usatoday.com/flights/post/2010/10/lady-gaga-flight-attendants/126145/1
Iyog says the airline did not know how popular the passenger's video of the dancing flight attendants would become, adding that it "went beyond anything that Cebu Pacific had expected." According to Cebu Pacific, a standard announcement about flight safety procedures was given before the plane took off. The dance version didn't commence until the plane was in the air.http://travel.usatoday.com/flights/post/2010/10/lady-gaga-flight-attendants/126145/1
