Catwoman is a fictional character in the DC Universe comic books published by DC Comics. She is a cat burglar with ties to crime syndicates in Rome and Gotham City, a frequent collaborator with super-powered criminals, and an occasional ally of the Batman.
A Life Clouded By Deceit
The origin of the Catwoman is not completely known by anyone, including Selina Kyle. She does not know the identity of her parents, and spent some time in Europe attempting to discern if her father was the Gotham City crime boss Carmine Falcone. She has encouraged various versions of her own beginnings, including having been a prostitute inspired to don a costume by the Batman's early activities. She later denied this with the claim that she was only playing the role of a prostitute in order to gather information for future crimes. Kyle has also claimed to be an amnesiac airline attendent and an abused wife. The mysteries she cultivates have been complicated by her being mind-wiped by the mystic super-hero Zantanna.
