  • Catherine Wheel was an alternative rock band from England that was formed in 1990 by singer-songwriter Rob Dickinson. Their music relied heavily upon sound effects like guitar feedback and droning guitar riffs to create rich layers of sound. Consequently, they are considered part of the shoegaze music scene and are often cited as inspirations amongst new shoegaze bands. While their commercial success was variable, they would often go on lengthy tours. They officially disbanded in 2000.

    Despite the breakup, all the band members are still involved in music. Guitarist Brian Futter and drummer Neil Sims continued their side project, 50 ft Monster. bassist Ben Ellis started a new band called Serafin. Singer Rob Dickinson frequently collaborated with singer-songwriter Tracy Bonham before releasing his 2005 solo album, Fresh Wine for the Horses and continues to perform live.
