20 year-old student Catalina Garcia was killed by a gunman at Northern Illinois University on February 14, 2008. The gunman, who has since identified as Steve Kazmierczak, killed five students, wounded 16, then finally took his own life. Garcia was sophomore, studying to be a kindergarten or 1st-grade teacher. On March 4, 2008 a community center classroom in her home town of Cicero, Illinois was named in her honor.
