This is part 7 of our complete Castlevania Order of Ecclesia Walkthrough, featuring Barracks.
-
-
Barracks
- Break the statue ahead to obtain the Melio Hasta glyph (Level 3 Lance)
- Start heading up and enter the first opening on the right to reach a save room. Save your game and then return to climbing up the platforms.
- Enter the top right opening and ignore the Tin Man above as you head towards the opening to the right.
- Jump on to the platform above and press Down to unveil a hidden blue chest containing Green Drops.
- A new enemy known as a Blade Master will stand in your way. These very unpredictable enemies will try to counter you by attack right when you do. Use Vol Luminatio or Nitesco to bring them down. Note that if you use Nitesco, hit them while crouching. Otherwise, they might slide right under your beam.
- Kill the Hammer Smasher ahead and then claim the goods from the random chest at the end. Return to the previous room.
- Start heading upwards but be very careful of the two Tin Men guarding the platforms.
- When you reach the top, head through the door on the left side and proceed through the connector room.
- You'll be back in the Castle Entrance section of the Castle, but we won't be here for long. Step on the switch with the Cross open the gate. Be careful of the emerging Ghouls as you make your way to the room on the left.
- Two Gargoyles will come to life when you get in the middle of them. Use Vol Ascia to bring them down and collect the random treasure chest.
- Head into the next room and open the red chest to obtain the Valkyrie Greaves. Now that you've got what you've come for, retrace your steps back to the red door and return to the Barracks.
- Once you're back in the barracks, jump up through the opening in the ceiling.
- Head to the right, past the Nova Skeleton and start climbing up the platforms. A Devil will be waiting at the top, but despite his scary appearance, he's pretty easy to take down with Vol Ascia.
- Proceed through the top right opening and you'll wind up in an outside area with a Blade Master and a dashing Red Smasher. Use Nitesco to take out the Red Smasher before he gets up in your face and knocks you into the previous room.
- Be sure to collect the money bags on the platforms in the area before heading to the next room to the right.
- Kill the Lizardman Blade and then head all the way to the right. The wall here is destructable so take it out and head inside to find a red chest with an HP Max Up
- Return to the previous room and fight your way to the opening at the bottom left.
- In the next room, once again fight your way to the bottom left corner to find a red chest containing an MP Max Up
- Proceed through the opening on the right and you'll enter another outdoors area with Blade Masters. Take them out, collect the contents of the random chest, and continue to the next room.
- Another hidden chest rests on the platform above. Jump onto it and press Down to reveal it and claim a Red Drops.
- Kill the lone Lizardman Blade and head through the next room to the right.
- Defeat the Gurkha Master on the bottom floor and head through the opening at the bottom right.
- Use Vol Luminatio to take out the Bugbear and then head down a floor to find an opening on the left. Head inside to activate a Warp Room for the Barracks.
- Return to the previous room and continue working your way down to the bottom right room.
- Open the red chest to find Valkyrie Mail. Equip it and then retrace your steps back to the room with the Gurkha Master.
- Head up the platforms and take care of the Blade Masters along the way. Eventually you'll come to an opening in the ceiling at the top left corner of the room.
- Fight past the Gurkha Master and Blade Masters as you make your way to the top left corner of the room.
- Note that a new enemy called an Imp will appear near the top of the room. They're not too big of a deal now, but later on these enemies will be very annoying as they can grab hold of you and gain control of your movement. Use Vol Ascia to swat them down before they get that chance.
- Break the wall at the top left corner to discover a room with a red chest containing a Moon Ring.
- Return to the previous room and head through the door at the top right.
-
Mechanical Tower
- Fight your way past the enemies in this room and proceed through the opening on the right.
- Kill the two Lizardman Blades as you head to the right side of this area. Break the statue and absorb the Vis Fio glyph. Jump on to the ledge and start making your way up to the top right opening to find a Save Room.
- Save the game and then drop down one level to find another opening on the right side.
- Equip Magnes and start heading down the vertical passage. Use Magnes to hang down and see what's below so you don't fall into spikes.
- Exit through the bottom left opening and proceed through the connector room.
- Use Magnes to fling yourself across the spike pits and make it to the bottom level. Now grab on to the Magnes orb on the gear and wait until it takes you around to the other side. Fling yourself to safe ground once you're out of the reach of the spikes.
- Do this one more time until you make it to the opening at the bottom right.
- Kill the Automaton and continue until you're able to fall to the bottom level. A Red Smasher will be running back and forth to the left. Take him out and proceed through the opening.
- Kill the two Automatons and then proceed to the next room.
- Use Fulgur to place two electric balls next to the two devices to cause the Morbus glyph to appear. Absorb it and then retrace your steps back to the room with the Magnes orbs.
- This time you need to head through the opening at the bottom left corner.
- Once again, carefully make your way down to the bottom right. Make sure to pick up the contents of the chest in the middle by flinging yourself into the small gap.
- A Lizardman Blade, an Imp and a Bugbear all await you in this next room. Dispatch of them however you wish and then proceed to the next room.
- Take care of the Gurkha Master on the top floor and the Red Smasher on the bottom before heading to the next room at the bottom left corner.
- Navigate through this maze-like room until you reach the bottom right corner. Lizardman Blades and Imps are the only things that stand in your way. Make sure to open the Green Chest above the opening at the bottom right to collect a piece of Onyx.
- Another one of these rooms. Kill the Lizardman Blade on the top floor but then be ready for a Bugbear to ambush you as you try to head down to the bottom. Once you kill the Bugbear, a Hammer Shaker awaits your arrival at the bottom.
- Head through the opening on the left to find yourself in a room with more Bugbears and Imps. Use either Vol Luminatio or Vol Ascia to take them down and head to the next room.
- Proceed through the connector room to reach the Arms Depot
-
-
Arms Depot
- Take care of the Bugbear and then enter the opening directly to the left.
- Plow through this room of Hammer Shakers and Gurkha Masters and you'll reach a room with a red chest guarded by another Hammer Shaker. Open the chest to find a HP Max Up
- Backtrack back to the room with the Bugbear and start heading down.
- Once you reach the bottom, enter the room to the right and you'll be faced with a new and intimidating enemy known as a Spectral Sword. This Giant Sword has a ton of weapons and shields surrounding it that make it both a defensive and offensive powerhouse. Luckily Acerbatus goes through the shields, gets rid of the swords, and damages the Sword directly, making it the perfect weapon to use against this otherwise tough enemy.
- Break the statue at the end of the hall and absorb the Melio Scutum Glyph (Level 3 Shield). Head into the next room to the right.
- Another new enemy guards the random chest in this room. The Mad Snatcher is essentially a stronger version of the Mad Butchers. Use Acerbatus to take them out.
- Return to the room with the Bugbears and this time head through the opening to the left.
- Kill the familiar enemies in this room and break the statue so you can absorb the Melio Culter glyph (Level 3 knife)
- The next room is home to a new monster called Rebuild. It's the stronger version of The Creature that you fought way back at Prison Island. It's weak against slashing glyphs, so use Melio Hasta while being wary of its flying knee attack that it likes to use.
- Head to the next room and you'll be faced with another new giant enemy, the Great Knight. They're weak to lightning and blunt weapons, but Nitesco seems to work fairly well too.
- After the Great Knight you'll have to fight against a King Skeleton. Their attacks follow the same patterns as the Giant Skeletons that you've fought before. Use Vol Luminatio or Nitesco to take them down. Once the room is clear, proceed to the next room.
- Take care of the Mad Snatchers as you drop down to the bottom level. Enter the room to the left to activate a Warp Room. Now proceed to the room to your right.
- Another room occupied by a Great Knight and a Skeleton King. Use the same methods as before to bring them down and continue to the next room.
- Equip Acerbatus and bring down the two Spectral Swords guarding the exit to the next room.
- Kill or ignore the Mad Snatchers as you drop down to the bottom of this vertical passage. Head into the room to the left to save the game before you go through the boss doors.
-
BOSS: Eligor
- HP: 3000
- EXP: 4300
- Difficulty: 4.5/5
- Recommended Glyphs: Melio Falcis, Acerbatus, Vol/Melio Ascia
- This can be a frustrating battle mainly because it's very long, repetitive, and all of sudden becomes really hard during the last phase of the battle.
- Upon entering the boss's arena, you can climb up the boss's tail and on to the back, only to be thrown against the wall and wind up on the right side of the boss.
- This boss is divided into four parts that all deal with where you are in relation to the boss.
Part 1
- You start off the battle to the right of Eligor and you'll also probably wind up here if you get thrown off the back of him in part 4 as well.
- When you're to the right of Eligor, he has three main attacks, all of which are very easy to avoid.
- The first he will use only when you are close to him. He'll pull his sword up, point it downwards, and then wait a bit before he stabs the ground. Easy enough to avoid since he gives ample time to get out of the way.
- His second attack you shouldn't even see because he will only use it if you're far away from him, and you should never be far away from him. He will bring his sword over his head and swing it down, dragging it towards himself once it touches ground. If he does use this, run towards him as soon as you see him lift the sword up.
- His third and final attack will always follow one of his first two. He will kneel down and shoot a total of five arrows at five different angles. You can knock down the arrows with your own weapons, but an easy way to avoid it would just be to stay at mid range, jump over the third one, and let the next two pass over your head.
- In between his attacks, use Melio Falcis to hit the gems in his legs and Acerabatus to hit the crossbow.
- The gems in his legs will probably be the first to go down. Once you destroy the gems, the boss will rear up and give you a chance to run under him. I personally think that you should kill the crossbow before going under his legs because it'll only cause you more grief later.
- If you don't run under his legs, the gems will regenerate but will have very little health, so don't feel like all of your hard work will have gone to waste if you don't go under the first time.
- Once you're underneath the boss, you're in part 2.
Part 2
- While underneath Eligor, you only have to watch out for one real attack. When he picks up his left front foot, stop moving and just crouch to avoid getting kicked.
- You're more likely to get hit just by the boss moving, so be mindful that you're always halfway between the bosses legs so you don't get hit when the boss changes direction.
- Again, you'll make life a lot easier by getting rid of the crossbow before you move on to the next part. Equip Vol/Melio Ascia and use short jumps to get the height that you need to hit the crossbow to your left. Be careful not to jump too high and get hit by the boss's underbelly.
- Once the crossbow is down, wait for the boss to crouch down and get ready to run under it's hind legs when it jumps. You don't have much of a window so be quick about getting under it.
Part 3
- Now you're back at the left side of Eligor. If you got rid of the crossbow in part two, this will very simple. You only have two attacks to worry about.
- When Eligor brings his left hind foot forward, immediately run to the left to avoid getting hit when he kicks it out.
- When his tail starts pointing directly at you and begins following you around, move to the left side of the room and then quickly return to the right once the tail stops moving. The tail will stab at whatever it's pointing at about a second after it stops moving.
- In between those attacks, just use Melio Falcis to attack the gem in Eligor's hind legs until you bring it down.
- Once it kneels down, run up its tail and move on to part 4.
Part 4
- This is where things start to get really difficult and unpredictable. Eligor has about 4 or 5 attacks from this position and they are all hard to avoid, deal a ton of damage, and have a chance of potentially knocking you back to a previous part.
- As a general rule of thumb, you want to stay as far away from the head as possible. You need to be just within range to be able to jump forward, attack with a single Melio Falcis strike, and then land back at the boss's rear.
- Don't hold anything back here. Use as many of Melio Falcis' glyph union attacks as possible to bring him down as fast as you can. The longer you stay on the back, the more at risk you are for getting killed or knocked back down.
- As for his actual attacks, the ones that you'll be able to avoid by just hanging back are his elbow strike and his attack that involves him rearing up on his hind legs.
- If you can see it coming, you can also avoid the attack with his tail by moving close to the head and crouching down. But like I said, I personally would just take the hit and immediately set myself back up at my position in the rear.
- Eventually Eligor will fall and you'll be able to collect his red orb and put this long battle behind you.
- Once the battle is over, climb up Eligor's body and exit through the door to the right.
- Absorb the Arma Custos Glyph in this next room. Only one more to go!
- Now it's time to do some backtracking. Head all the way back to the Mechanical Tower. You can do this by taking the nearest warp room, warping to the Barracks, and then making your way toward the save room at the top right part of your map.
