Major League Baseball first baseman Casey Kotchman currently plays for the Seattle Mariners.
Kotchman was originally drafted by the Angels on June 5, 2001, 13th overall in the MLB Draft. He was immediately placed with the Angels' minor league affiliates for his first few years.
On May 9, 2004, Kotchman was called up to make his MLB debut with the Angels. He played 38 games his rookie season, hitting seven runs in 116 attempts at bat. He also made his first post season appearance, where the Angels lost the American League Divisional Series to the Boston Red Sox.
Kotchman split his next few seasons between the Angels and their affiliates, playing 47 games in 2005, finishing the season with a .278 batting average.
Kotchman spent most of the 2006 regular season on the disabled list, with Mononucleosis. He returned to the Angels full roster in 2007, playing in 137 games and two additional games in the playoffs.

In 2009, Kotchman had playing time with both the Braves and his new team, the Boston Red Sox. He hit a combined .268 with seven home runs and 48 RBI.
During the 2009-2010 offseason, Kotchman was traded to the Seattle Mariners. He now is their starting first baseman.
