  • Casey Anthony is the mother of Florida toddler Caylee Anthony, who went missing in mid-June 2008. The body of Caylee Anthony was found on December 11, 2008, near the home of her grandparents, George and Cindy Anthony.

    On October 9, 2009, prosecutors released 1,400 pages of documents, including photos and evidence. Among the documents were pictures of Casey Anthony's tattoo that reads "La Bella Vida."   • The Death Penalty?

    In a reversal of their December 5, 2008 decision, a notice of intent was filed by prosecutors to seek the death penalty for Anthony.   • Questionable Photos

    In July of 2008, photos surfaced showing Anthony partying in a club right around the time of her daughter's disappearance. The courts have yet to determine whether or not these images will be admissible as evidence against her.   • Potentially Incriminating Videos

    On January 12, 2009, a video tape was released that showed the private investigator hired by the Anthony family at the site where Caylee was found a few weeks later. The investigator, Dominic Casey, is shown searching the site and pushing a metal rod into the ground.     Later that week, on January 17, 2009, another video tape was released which showed a conversation between Casey Anthony and her parents from August of 2008. In the video, Casey Anthony is speaking to her parents via a telephone while she is in prison.   • Investigation

    Casey Anthony reportedly borrowed a neighbor's shovel and was seen digging in her parents' backyard around the time of her daughter's disappearance. The police have seized the shovel along with Anthony's computer and car.     When questioned about what happened to her daughter, Casey Anthony told police that she left her daughter with a babysitter, Zenaida Gonzalez, on June 9, 2008. She claims that she went to pick her daughter up and the child was gone.     When police questioned Zenaida Gonzalez about the story, she told police she didn't know Anthony. The apartment where Anthony allegedly left her daughter on June 9 had been vacant for five months.
