  • Cary Elwes is a British actor who is best known for his roles in The Princess Bride, Robin Hood: Men in Tights, and Saw.

    Elwes made his acting debut in the film Another Country with Rupert Everett and Colin Firth. After finding success in movies, he was offered to join the Royal Shakespeare Company, but turned it down to continue doing film.

    Rob Reiner cast Elwes in the leading role of The Princess Bride. Elwes had to do all the swordfighting in the film, which ended up being a success. This was Elwes' first attempt at comedy. He continued to find steady work in movies like Glory and Hot Shots!. He was then given another leading role in the Mel Brooks movie Robin Hood: Men in Tights. Although he was most familiar with dramatic acting, he was able to pull off a fine comedic performance.

    Elwes continues to act in various films and television shows, including a guest appearance on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.
