Carter Oosterhouse is the host of Carter Can, a home repair reality show on HGTV. Oosterhouse first gained national fame as a carpenter on the TLC series Trading Spaces.
Background
Oosterhouse's career as a carpenter began at the age of 11, when he began learning carpentry as an apprentice to his neighbor, a master carpenter. He continued to work in carpentry and construction throughout school, following in footsteps of his older brothers.
After college, Oosterhouse relocated to Los Angeles to pursue a career in film and television. His first job was working behind-the-scenes for Project Greenlight.
When auditioning for a new show on TLC, Oosterhouse ended up landing a part on the already popular show Trading Spaces, joining the cast in their fourth season.
