On October 24, 2008, news agencies reported that Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Carson Palmer has a frayed ligament in his right elbow and missed the remainder of the 2008-2009 NFL Season.

Palmer injured the elbow on September 21, 2008, in a game vs. the New York Giants. At the time of the announcement the Bengals were 0-7.
