Suzuki

Suzuki is a Japanese motorcycle and car manufacturer owned by General Motors.

1909: Suzuki Loom Works is founded in Hamamatsu, Japan by Michio Suzuki.
1920: Suzuki becomes incorporated.
1945: War damages force Suzuki plants to close.
1949: Suzuki is listed on the stock exchanges in Tokyo, Osaka and Nagoya.
1952: Suzuki launches the Power Free 36cc, 2-cycle motorized bicycle.
1954: Suzuki Loom Works becomes Suzuki Motor Co., Ltd.
1955: The Colleda 125cc, 2-cycle motorcycle debuts, followed by the Suzulight 360cc, 2-cycle minivehicle.
1958: The "S" mark becomes Suzuki's corporate emblem.
1963: The U.S. Suzuki Motor Corporation is established in LA, California.
1965: Suzuki debuts the Fronte 800 2-cycle subcompact passenger vehicle.c
1970: Suzuki debuts the Jimny 360cc, 2-cycle mini 4x4 vehicle.
1973: Suzuki Canada Ltd. is established in Ontario.
1974: Suzuki launches the Motor Chair Z600 motorized wheelchair and their first prefabricated house plus storage shed.
1976: The Suzuki GS motorcycle series debuts.c
1980: Suzuki launches three models of electric power generators.
1981: Suzuki enters a business tie-up with General Motors Corporation and Isuzu Motors Limited.
1982: Suzuki signs an agreement with the Indian government for the joint production of Suzuki vehicles.
1987: Global sales of Suzuki cars reach one million units this year.
1989: Suzuki and Mitsubishi reach an agreement for the joint development of small trucks.c
1990: Suzuki Motor Company, Limited becomes Suzuki Motor Corporation.
1994: The Suzuki Alto minivehicle debuts.
1998: The Suzuki Skywave 250cc scooter is launched.
1999: Suzuki motorcycle production reaches 40 million units globally.c
2001: The Suzuki Aerio (Liana) passenger car and the Chevrolet Cruze (developed by Suzuki and GM) debut.c
2002: The Suzuki Alto Lapin minivehicle debuts and the company develops the first direct-injection turbo engine for minivehicles.c
