1934: Knee action independent front suspension and super-hydraulic brakes debut in Oldsmobile vehicles.
1937: The automatic safety transmission is introduced with a clutch pedal. The Oldsmobile Eight Convertible Coupe debuts.
1940: The Hydra-Matic transmission debuts, the first fully automatic transmission worldwide.
1942: Oldsmobile converts to producing war materials, including cannons and shells.
1946: The Valiant Program debuts, making special changes to vehicles based on the needs of war veterans.
1949: The over-head-valve rocket V-8 engine is produced

with five bearings and hydraulic lifters, 135 horsepower at 3,600 RPM.
1958: The 88 Holiday Sedan debuts.
1959: An Oldsmobile wins the first Daytona 500 race.
1961: The Compact F-85 debuts.
1962: The Oldsmobile Jetfire coupe debuts with the first turbocharged engine.
1966: The Toronado debuts with front-wheel drive.
1973: Air cushions debut in limited-edition Oldsmobiles in the 70s.
1976: The Cutlass Brougham debuts.
1977: On June 16th of this year, Oldsmobile becomes the third American automaker to build one million cars in a single model year.
1988: The Quad-4 engine debuts with dual overhead camshafts and four valves per cylinder.
1990: The Silhouette minivan debuts.
1991: The first Oldsmobile SUV, the Bravada, debuts.
1995: Guidestar, a global positioning system, debuts in Oldsmobile vehicles.
1997: A new logo for the brand's 100th birthday debuts,

making Oldsmobile the oldest car company in America.
1999: The Silhouette Premiere minivan debuts with video systems, remote control and headphone jacks.
2004: Oldsmobile is discontinued.
