1945: Mercury was combined with Lincoln into the Lincoln-Mercury Division of Ford.
1967: The Mercury Cougar was introduced.
1978: Mercury sales reached an all-time high of 580,000.
1993: Mercury sales rebounded to their highest level since 1978 - 480,000.
2010: Ford announced Mercury would be closed by the end of the year as the line represented about one percent of the North American automobile market.c
