Liberty Electric Cars Ltd. is an automobile startup company out of Oxford in the United Kingdom. The company is investing £30 million ($48,036,177.23) in the creation of fully-electric luxury model vehicles.
Alternative Fuel Vehicles
As the search for alternative fuels heats up, most automotive makers have only been able to generate hybrid cars, which run off of both fuel and alternative energy. The Liberty Electric Cars system will reportedly be the first such alternative vehicle to produce zero emissions.
Liberty Electric Cars Timeline
2009: The company announces a partnership with the United Kingdom in order to locate manufacturing facilities in the north east of England.
2010: The company is working on converting existing Range Rovers into electric vehicles, removing their internal combustion engines and replacing them with electric powertrains including an electric motor, Lithium Polymer batteries and capacitors that absorb energy from regenerative braking. Once on the market, the Liberty e-Range Rover will retail for £95,000 ($152,114.56) to £125,000 ($200,150.74).c
