Jaguar Timeline
1935: The SS Jaguar appears on a 2.5 litre sedan and sports of models SS 90 and SS 100.
1949 to 1961: Jaguar makes a name for itself with a series of sports cars including the XK 120 (1949), XK 140, XK
150 and the XKE (1961).
1951, 1953, 1955, 1956, 1967: Jaguar wins the Le Mans 24 Hours Race.
1966: Jaguar merges with British Motor Corporation to form British Motor Holdings.
1968: Jaguar's merge with BMC becomes the British Leyland Motor Corporation through another merge with
Leyland.
1975: The company becomes British Leyland, Ltd.
1984: Jaguar is listed on the London Stock Exchange as a separate company.
1990, 1999, 2000: Jaguar's listing on the London Stock Exchange is removed in February to become part of Ford's Premier Automotive Group in 1999 with Aston
Martin and Volvo. Land Rover was added in 2000.
1999: Jaguar launches the S-Type.
2001: Jaguar launches the X-Type.
2008: Ford sells Jaguar and Land Rover to Tata Motors of India.c
