Getting a parking ticket is not something anyone enjoys. Failing to pay a parking ticket promptly will lead to additional fees being added to the original amount of the citation. Paying your parking ticket online is a quick and easy way to resolve the situation, and to prevent any negative consequences.

You should not pay any parking ticket that you intend to contest. 

1. When you find a parking ticket on your vehicle, check to make sure you committed the violation you were ticketed for.

2. Check the signs around your parking spot to make sure that they are visible and clear.

3. Make sure you were not ticketed for not having a placard or permit that you actually have.

Once you determine that you do need to pay the parking ticket, you will need to collect the following:

1. The ticket

2. Debit card, credit card or checking account information

3. License plate number

4. Vehicle Identification Number (VIN)

The back of your ticket should indicate the website you can visit to pay your fine online, as well as the date by which the ticket needs to be paid. If you cannot located the website information, you can use your state's Department of Motor Vehicle (DMV) site to find payment instructions, both online and in-person.

2. Once at the appropriate site, confirm that there is a secure method to transmit payment data, either with a small lock icon next to the URL, or an "https" at the beginning of the URL.

3. You will need to enter your ticket number and the date you received the ticket to log into the payment system.

4. After logging in, proceed with payment as instructed by the site.

NOTE: most websites will charge a small convenience fee for using their online payment services.

Once you submit payment, you should receive a confirmation page.

1. Write down the confirmation number, as well as the time you submitted payment.

2. If possible, print the confirmation page for your records.

3. Have the website email you a payment confirmation if the option is available.

4. File the payment confirmation with your ticket.
