Dodge is a subsidiary of Chrysler, an American automobile manufacturer, that produces cars, minivans and sports utility vehicles (SUVs).
Dodge Timeline
1915: Over 45,000 Dodge cars are produced and sold.
1917: Dodge begins producing military ambulances and screen-sided business trucks.
1920: Dodge is the second-best selling car in the United States the same year that John Dodge dies (January),
followed by Horace (December).
1925: Dodge manufactures and sells its 1,000,000th car.
1928: A New York investment banking firm negotiates and completes a $170 million transaction with Walter Chrysler to purchase Dodge.
1930: "Dodge Brothers" becomes known as "Dodge."
1935: Dodge's sedan produced this year becomes the
company's 3,000,000th car.
1942-1945: Dodge builds weapons, tanks, ships, aircraft and air raid sirens for the WWII effort.
1954: The Dodge Royal 500 paces the Indianapolis 500.
1955: Dodge cars are restyled with longer, lower and wider designs, three-tone paint schemes and V-8 power engines.
1962: The 413-cubic-inch Ramcharger Max-Wedge engine is introduced.
1968: The Dodge Charger sells three times as well as its predecessor of 1966.
1970s: Dodge creates muscle cars with large V-8 engines, including the Charger R/T, the Coronet R/T and
the Challenger.
1982: Dodge debuts the Aries compact.
1984: Dodge debuts the Caravan front-wheel-drive minivan.
1992: Dodge debuts the Viper with a V-10 engine and only two-seat.
1996: The Dodge Viper coupe paces the Indianapolis 500.
2004: Dodge celebrates its 90th anniversary.c
