The Chevrolet Beat is a concept car from General Motors. Reports say the company is considering selling the fuel-efficient vehicle in U.S. markets. The Chevrolet Beat gets up to 40 miles per gallon.c
Shifting Focus
On June 3, 2008, General Motors announced it would cease production at four of the company's North American assembly plants by 2010. All of the plants targeted for closing produce sport utility vehicles and pickup trucks, signaling a shift from larger vehicles to smaller, more fuel-efficient cars.
General Motors Chairman Rick Waggoner said the company was considering selling off its Hummer brand. Waggoner said rising gas prices "are changing consumer behavior and changing it rapidly."c
