Carrie Underwood is an American country music singer who defeated Bo Bice to win the fourth season of American Idol. She has the top-selling debut album of any Idol contestant. Her second album Carnival Ride was released on October 23, 2007.

On April 5, 2009, Underwood won the "Top Female Vocalist" and "Entertainer of the Year" awards on the Academy of Country Music Awards. She was inducted into the Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame on September 17, 2009.
